Maybe when you were very young, you felt like you were much more mature, that you were a responsible adult, although your id papers showed you were still a minor. Or maybe, at the third age, you feel young at heart, you live the life to the full and enjoy every single minute of it.

In either case, we are never our known age. Our biological age can differ with ten years, or maybe even more, from the one shown by our birth date.

Health Can Determine Our Age

Of course that somebody who is not healthy, who has a lot of pains, aches and incurable diseases will feel bad, even at 20 plus years of age. He will feel old, frustrated, angry, and this will show in his relationship with the external world.

On the other hand, I can perfectly skate at my 70 years of age, I can swim and ride horses (although my son would be very upset if he read this story - he doesn't think I'm that healthy... what does he know... sometimes I think he was born old).

Secrets For A Healthy Living

First let me tell you that I don't think there is only one recipe for healthy living. This can be obtained in many ways. Today I'll show you mine:

Sleep enough: I don't go to bed if I'm not sleepy, thus preventing those situations when you start reading in bed and you find yourself long after midnight fighting with your sleep because you want to finish the book)

Eat five times a day: I'm not overeating, by no means, but I have many small meals during the whole day, rather than eating a ton once or twice. My diet is based on lots of fruits and salads, but I don't neglect chocolate, coffee and green tea. Occasionally I would also have a drink, but this is far from becoming a habit, as I'm not feeling quite well after drinking a lot at night.

Exercise: I'm not going to the gym, because I hate all those aerobics stuff we are told to be extremely healthy. I simply cannot do something which is not a sport, which doesn't have a finality, a goal. This is why I'd rather go swimming or skating. Sometimes I enjoy more quiet sports like chess, but this is rather for the mind than for the body, I hope you do agree with me.

Put your memory at work: don't be lazy, don't use your agendas and telephone memory to store all important things and dates in your life. Memorize as much as you can and try all the time to learn something new. The latest medical discoveries are truly amazing, and they show that the neurons (which are the brain cells) are regenerating themselves, and new connections are formed between them during the learning process. This happens at any age, so there's no reason and no excuse, even if you passed 70, to pretend that your mind doesn't help you anymore. Train it, and it will serve you well.

Be happy: ignore all details in life. So what if your little grand daughter just broke apart your most valuable China piece in your livingroom? What is a vase compared to the jopy of having children around you, watching their smiles and their games, seeing their progresses as they go mature and learn. If you don't have the happiness flowing from yourself, no riches of this world can help you to find your peace of mind. Let go, forgive, and you'll improve your life.

Help others: there's no bigger pleasure than to help people to overcome things that you've encountered in your life. Help them fight and win the war, teach them the harmony and balance of this world, and we shall have a better place for everybody.

Create: why do you think I've started my sites? I feel the burn for creation inside me. I feel I need to give something back to this world which created me and made me who I am today, healthy and in my full power, after so many years that I've almost forgotten where I come from.

This is briefly my biggest achievement: be happy and content with yourself, thank God for what you have, and health shall follow. Can't you feel the abundance? Close your eyes and feel stronger. You know you can.

Old And Healthy: Is It Possible?

Health is more and more an issue nowadays. Even young people are staring to get more health-conscious, and they are trying to live a healthy life, to eat healthy foods, to cook healthy recipes and to practice sports, in order to keep their body fit.

For us, people in our 70s, healthy living has a slightly different meaning: there's no way I could go to the gym, do aerobics or run on the treadmill, or use one of those exercise bikes and not die the next moment. I'm just too old for that.

However, as strange as it may look, I still enjoy going skating. This was one of my favorite sports when I was younger, and I kept this good habit until today. Going in the park with my grandchildren, with the skates in the winter, or with the roller blades in the summer, is one of the biggest joys of my life. Please don't ask my arthritis what it has to say about my sport habits. If my knees had a mouth to speak, they'd curse a lot, that's for sure.

Despite the normal age issues, like morning stiffness, arthritis, a few pains in my joints and a low back pain, I can say I'm a healthy person. My eyes are still good, I can read without glasses. My heart is working just fine and all blood tests I've recently run showed that I don't have any major issues. Even the cholesterol levels, which would put many people on a diet, were within normal limits, so I have nothing to worry about if I exaggerate with unhealthy foods every now and then.

The only health issue I've had since so long ago that it became a second nature, is my allergy, for which I had to buy dehumidifiers in all my rooms. As for the rest, I'm always in perfect shape and ready to enjoy life.
